New ratings by Robert Parker Wine Magazine

Stephan Reinhardt of Robert Parker The Wine Advocate rated our 2016 Pinot Noirs in January 2019. Find his tasting notes and ratings here.

Sonntagszeitung - the best 50 Pinot noirs

In the Sonntagszeitung issue of October 7th, the 50 best Pinot noirs below CHF 50 were rated. We are very happy to see our PILGRIM 2015 on the 3rd place with 18/20 points.

Martin Kilchmann's article  "Ein Ignorant, wer den Schweizer Wein noch immer belächelt" is worth reading and very aptly worded. Thank you, Martin!

Robert Parker Wine Magazine rated Swiss wines

In the middle of harvest great news reached us. Stephan Reinhardt of the Robert Parker Wine Magazine "The Wine Advocate" rated our pinots from Maisprach and Maienfeld. The Pinot Noir CLOS MARTHA 2014 from Maisprach was rated 92 RP (Robert Parker points) again, after the excellent vintage of 2013. The Pinot Noir PILGRIM 2014 got even 93 RP.  This makes the PILGRIM - in an, according to Reinhardt, difficult vintage - one of the beste rated Pinots in Graubünden.

Tasting notes

2015 Matthias & Sina Gubler • Pinot Noir Clos Martha • 92 RP

The 2015 Pinot Noir Clos Martha is lovely, aromatic and seductive yet pure and fresh on the nose, with flinty, ripe fruit and floral aromas. On the palate this is a powerful, intense and juicy but finely structured and vibrantly tensioned Pinot Noir with ripe fruit, stunning finesse and mineral purity on the powerful and persistent finish. This is really impressive and an outstanding wine from the Basel-Landschaft. Tasted in Zurich, August 2017.

2014 Matthias & Sina Gubler • Pinot Noir Pilgrim • 93 RP

The 2014 Pinot Noir Pilgrim opens with a beautifully pure, deep, fresh and intense bouquet with flinty and toasty aromas from the soils, skins, stems and oak. This dark colored Pinot Noir is a serious red wine, and it gets my attention in seconds. Full-bodied, round and elegant on the palate, with intense but well-articulated fruit, this is a powerful and concentrated Pinot Noir with a silky texture, great complexity, tension, grip and persistence. Any hints of the suzuki fly here? Not at all. This Pinot Noir is just big and provided with a long and tensioned finish. One of the finest Pinot Noirs I have tasted from Graubünden from the 2014 vintage. Tasted in Zurich, August 2017.
